Opulence
Category: Body
80×100 cm
Opulence is a piece created on a recycled canvas that was destined for the trash, transformed into a critical reflection on the concept of beauty and consumerism in contemporary times. The project contrasts today’s vision, shaped by advertising and beauty standards dictated by society, with the more traditional and nature-inspired standards of the past. At the heart of the artwork is a giant pop mouth, symbolizing the overexposure to the fast beauty culture and consumerist aesthetics, opposing a classic oil painting of a fruit basket, symbolizing richness and opulence in its truest, most natural form. “Opulence” invites reflection on the evolution of beauty and the impact media has in shaping our perception of body image and desire.
