The work is inspired by Marjane Satrapi, particularly her illustrated film Persepolis. The artwork tells the life story of the author, from her childhood in Iran to her adulthood. On one side, Persepolis mainly focuses on Iran, its evolution, and the changes the country underwent following the Islamic Revolution, seen through the eyes of a young girl and later, a woman.
